Integration with Info Path |
The release of Microsoft Office 2003 includes Microsoft Office Forms Server 2007, which gives you server-side forms management capabilities. The Forms server is closely integrated with MOSS 2007. This integration provides end users different features. For example, you can now render and use server-side InfoPath forms in Web browsers and include data-driven features such as data access from BDC applications.
An enterprise develops and deploys hundreds, if not thousands, of forms throughout its corporate facilities. Many companies wanted to take advantage of Microsoft InfoPath because it was a forms-building program that produced .xml files natively, allowed easy editing of the form itself, and allowed easy integration with Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. However, it was not possible in InfoPath to fill out InfoPath forms using a Web browser. Having such a powerful technology that functioned fully only on the desktop led to requests by many to make InfoPath forms available over the Internet so that they could be filled in by anyone with a Web browser.
Although InfoPath had a Web solution, that solution offered just read-only access to the forms. InfoPath was intended to become SharePoint Portal Server's forms solution. Because the appeal of both SharePoint Portal Server and InfoPath would be broadened by adding the ability to work with InfoPath forms from a browser, Microsoft created Office Forms Server 2007
