Integration with Active Directory Services

Royal Cyber Inc provides collaborative solution requires efficient management of information about people and business. Most organizations store information about employees, such as security group memberships, e-mail addresses, contact details, and organizational structures, in an Active Directory. The integration between MOSS 2007 and Active Directory helps an organization use this information in collaborative solutions.
You can use Active Directory to categorize users into groups based on their roles and grant them associated privileges and resource access. This helps you in authenticating and authorizing users.
MOSS 2007 includes an Active Directory authentication provider that you can use to authenticate users based on their user credentials and group membership. Additionally, MOSS 2007 includes a pluggable provider architecture that helps you authenticate users by using other lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) directories.
Within MOSS 2007 solutions, you can also use Active Directory users and group membership as the basis for authorizing users and granting them access to the SharePoint sites.
MOSS 2007 provides new and enhanced profile features that integrate with Active Directory. These profile features include the ability to define Active Directory as the profile store, import profile data from Active Directory, and synchronize MOSS 2007 profile information with Active Directory.
In addition, you can define MOSS 2007 audiences by using Active Directory–based properties.
A distribution list is a group of mail recipients that is addressed as a single recipient. You can use it to send e-mail messages to groups of people without specifying each recipient’s e-mail addresses. You can integrate MOSS 2007 with Active Directory to create distribution lists during site creation. This helps you send e-mail messages to a distribution list from MOSS 2007.
